http://www.myspace.com/cairdeasmusic
Càirdeas is probably the best folk trio in Scotland.

www.myspace.com/paddysirishclan
Paddy's Irish Clan is one of the most long-lived Irish bands in Sweden.
They sound like the Dubliners on speed or a Swedish version of the Pogues. Paddy's Irish Clan has toured both Scandinavia and Ireland, and will return to the Emerald Isle this summer. Paddy's Irish Clan delivers songs and tunes that tickle your feet and awaken your thirst! |
The Don Darlings FRIDAY 21.30
www.thedondarlings.com
When The Don Darlings interpret Dark Southern Americana, energetic music is created.
The Don Darlings play a messy mix of outlaw country, blues and rockabilly while spicing it up with punk attitude. A baritone straight outta Texas delivers sardonic phrases from the edge of the grave. While the powerful rhythm section bangs out backbeats you can dance to, the guitars resound beautifully, bellowing with rage and tender caress. It has seldom been so much fun to be so dismally black! |
West of Eden FRIDAY 18.30
www.westofeden.com
This band has vitalized the Celtic folkrock scene with their distinctive sound and their high songwriting standards!
Beside international tours, they have performed with The Swedish National Orchestra, worked with musicians from Riverdance & Anúna and has for the last five years produced the sold out Celtic Christmas-concerts in their native town Gothenburg.
It is amazing how the band with ease throw them selves between intimate acoustic storytelling, traditional tunes and catchy uplifting folkrock fronted by their fantastic singer Jenny Schaub. A truly fantastic live band! |
Erik Törnqvist & The Big Rivers SATURDAY 20.00
www.myspace.com/eriktornqvist

The Pipes & Drums of the 1st Royal Engineers FRIDAY & SATURDAY
www.sackpipa.com
The sound and image of a pipe band is an experience that stays with you. The intensity and the sheer force makes you think of hard rock or even opera.
Most of the tunes we play are Scottish or Irish folk music, the way it sounds today in Glasgow or on the Isle of Skye. Since 1968 Stockholm has a pipe band of its own. We are around 50 musicians who practice, teach and play all over Sweden. We also compete regularly in Scotland. We even win sometimes, because pipe bands are a global thing today. |
Leif Brixmark and the New Holland Band SATURDAY 18.30
www.myspace.com/leifbrixmarknewhollandband
Leif Brixmark and the New Holland Band have developed their artistic groove outside the traditional conventions.
Five very skilled musicians create a vital hybrid – Swedish folklore tradition meeting klezmer, Greek folk tunes, Afro-American jazz'n'blues and European burlesque styles. Leif Brixmarks's expressive lyrics are decorated by innovative musical arrangements. Whispering lyrical sequences explode suddenly into wild improvisations, and the energy of the band put a spell on the audience. |
Eileen SATURDAY 21.30
www.folkfest.se
Eileen is arranging FolkFest for the second year running.
This band has found a way of combining the melancholic vibrations from the North with traditional Irish songs. Eileen creates a show that satisfies both devoted listeners and euphoric dancers and brings forth the archaic feelings and love within us all. Eileen was founded in 2006 and is today a popular party ingredient in Scandinavia. Hundreds of concerts have been given and some excellent recordings have been made during the past years. A live album was released in November 2010 and Eileen is continually composing new songs. |
